Denver Botanic Gardens Afternoon Outing
I went to Denver Friday to spend a hot afternoon photographing things I don’t normally photograph, which is apparently becoming one of my favorite ways to make myself very uncomfortable.
I joined a group fresh from the OPA (Outdoor Photo Alliance) Women’s Immersive Photography Retreat – which I didn’t attend due to another workshop later this month – in an informal shooting session at the botanic gardens.
I’ve done very little botanical photography, so I spent a lot of the afternoon experimenting with shallow depth of field, backlighting, patterns, details and generally trying not to photograph plants like someone documenting what plants actually look like.
I came home with a few surprises.
